A Silent Auction will be held featuring Memorabilia, art and unusual and unique items from the regions finest artists. This promises to be a concert that will be talked about for years to come!
The VFW Post 1957 is located at 1623 12th Street Drive NW in Hickory, NC. Tickets are $12 at the door.
Sheila has recently been in the hospital with a gastrobug that’s making the doctors scratch their heads. Her medical bills are simply overwhelming with no insurance, so we’re asking for your support to attend and participate in this benefit, and have the opportunity to hear some great live music. All proceeds go to help cover Sheila’s medical expenses.
Sheila Carlisle lived in Charlotte, NC while she sang blues on the road for 15 years with a band called “Arhooly”. Perhaps you recognize the band name if you’re a Blues Fan who has been going to The Double Door Inn in Charlotte, NC and Ten Years After in Hickory, NC since the 70’s & 80’s when Shelia and guitar slinger Max Drake toured the east coast. They worked with such Blues Greats as B.B. King, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Gatemouth Brown, Delbert McClinton, Nappy Brown, Jimmy Thackery, Chuck Berry, & many more blues artists. Or perhaps this might evoke other memories of Shelia, as the Blues Dynamo of “Arhooly” who gave her heart out on stage for years, also touring in the “Cascade Street Blues Band” or “The Sheila Carlisle Band”.
Shelia Carlisle presently resides in Morganton since moving back there in 1989. She has been volunteering for local animal shelters as an animal advocate and is currently fostering a pit bull dog (Phantom) that was used as a bait dog in a dog-fighting ring. “He’s a big ole baby,” says Sheila! She has two other dogs, a black cat and six cats on the mantle. Shelia is married to John Oxford III, and they have been together for 18 years. John is an incredible musician and songwriter as well as Shelia’s best friend!
Spread the word. Make the short trip to Hickory to support one of the south’s favorite Blueswomen.
Shelia can be quoted: “Do the right thing. Do it for the RIGHT reason to get the RIGHT results.”
