Hickory Alive The NEWZ

Hickory comes alive on June 4, 2010 when Hickory Alive! returns with the rocking sounds of THE NEWZ, the first band in the summer music line up. THE NEWZ is one of the most talented and versatile bands around. This high-energy unit combines exquisite musicianship with brilliant vocals and one of the most multifaceted and diverse song selections imaginable.

The band is based out of the Hickory, Charlotte, and surrounding areas of North Carolina and has matured into a powerhouse that delivers a unique offering of a combination of styles and genres of music.

Each individual, seasoned in their own style, come together to make THE NEWZ one of the hottest talents in the area. Described as one of the best cover bands around … PERIOD … each member contributes to the vocal duties as THE NEWZ will astound you with some of the finest harmonies you will hear anywhere … at ANY level, and has developed a reputation for being an entertainment group in “high-demand”! Yes, you can be certain, their live performances are sure to impress. So if you’re looking for a fun time out with great music from a great band … Come on out and hear THE NEWZ!

Opening for THE NEWZ is local favorite, singer/songwriter Andi Balloun.

This annual free event is held every Friday night in June and July on Union Square and features an array of local musical talent. The pre-show begins at 7pm with the main act running from 8pm until 11pm.The Hickory Jaycees and the Hickory Downtown Development Association sponsor this popular event.

Cold adult beverages from United Beverage will be available for adults with proper ID, with proceeds going toward the development of young professionals through the Hickory Junior Chamber (Jaycees). In addition, soda and other non-alcoholic beverages will be on site. Downtown restaurants will be open before, during and after the concert. Several retail businesses will be open during the event.

The Humane Society of Catawba County will be supplying orange and lime slices for twenty-five cents to top off your beverage at Hickory Alive again this year. All proceeds will benefit the shelter animals. HSCC will be there for every concert.
