Rebooting With Dignity
Website Founder Uses Last $50 To Help Others Find Employment
After experiencing a layoff in 2007 and joining a startup with little funding, Rivera recently decided to create his own job…Slip Squad – The Source for Pink Slip Parties (www.slipsquad.com, San Francisco-based). Slip Squad shares national pink slip party event news, career-building tips, professional networking opportunities, job opportunities and much more. The free site services the unemployed, those at risk of a ‘pink slip’, and recruiters/employers seeking talented business professionals.
“I was frustrated by my own financial situation. In addition, it is saddening to see the corporations throw away employees like old machinery. I really felt bad for the people who were caught in a daily Home-Work-Home routine. At some point, it’s robotic. Slip Squad is dedicated to all these recovering robots. I want to make sure these people ‘reboot with dignity’ and jump right back into the workforce as soon as possible,” stated Rivera, CEO of Slip Squad.
Open Social Platform
Slip Squad’s platform allows its members to personalize their member profiles creating an enhanced professional identity. Favorite widgets, rss feeds, social networks, videos, resumes and more can be easily integrated. Members have the ability to share their touching stories, find a job, sharpen their resume and connect with local professionals. In the spirit of pink slip parties, Slip Squad’s content is kept casual and often humorous.
