7th Annual Brett’s Ride Scheduled for Sunday, October 3

As of last Fall, Brett’s Ride is one of only eight entities that comprise a partnership called the “Carolinas Kids Cancer Research Coalition”.  This Coalition will help fund certain clinical trials by the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Center at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.  These clinical trials will offer experimental drugs to children who have cancers that recur after initial treatment fails.  Kids from our region who have been forced to travel to other medical centers in places like New York and Washington to get life-saving help will now be able to get that help very close to home.  We are excited and proud to be part of these pioneering efforts!

Thanks to all the wonderful supporters of Brett’s Ride, a total of almost $500,000 has been donated over the first 6 years of the event, including $112,000 in 2009, to help combat childhood cancer.  Brenner Children’s Hospital and Levine Children’s Hospital were beneficiaries last year of $56,000 each from Brett’s Ride.  These two hospitals are part of an alliance called the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) which is a network of over 200 hospitals throughout the country that share pediatric cancer research with each other.

We know you will want to begin planning now to participate in this year’s ride on Sunday, October 3 at the Hickory Foundation YMCA.  In addition, by contributing to and participating in Brett’s Ride, you can join us in our fight against childhood cancer and help make this a better world for children and families both locally and across the country!
Our new website has launched with all the information on the upcoming ride and registration information.
Registration is now open!
