Classical Guitarist Peter Fletcher Featured In Library Concert

Peter FletcherClassical guitarist Peter Fletcher is on tour from New York City and is making a concert stop in Hickory. The recording artist and concert performer will offer his interpretations of Bach, Albéniz, Ravel, Grieg and more on Thursday, Sept. 16th at 7:00 p.m. The free concert will be held at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library, located at 375 3rd Street NE on the SALT Block in Hickory. No reservations are necessary.

Peter Fletcher began guitar study at the age of seven. In 1980 classical guitarist José Tomás, Andrés Segovia’s teaching assistant in Spain, held a week long Master Class in Atlanta, GA. Fletcher was the youngest student to perform in the class, playing music by Bach and Carcassi. In 1983, he made his formal debut at the age of fifteen under the auspices of The Brasstown Concert Association in North Carolina.

Fletcher furthered his studies in Master Classes with David Leisner, David Russell, Oscar Ghiglia and Pepe Romero. In 1995, he received the Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music under Nicholas Goluses, and was twice the recipient of an Eastman Graduate Award.

Peter FletcherIn demand as a performer in cultural venues throughout the country, Fletcher has been invited to give recitals at the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY; Cincinnati’s Memorial Hall; St. Philip Cathedral in Atlanta; Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina; the Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover, DE; the Chicago Cultural Center; the World Music Series in Oceanside, California, and the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall to a sold out audience.
