There are four major variables to consider when setting up a cardiovascular fitness program. A well-designed program follows the FITT formula: Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type.

1. The primary objective in losing weight should be to lose fat and not muscle. Raising your metabolism is the way to achieve this.
