Sharon Lacey

Charleston, SC native Sharon Lacey has been recognized internationally and nationally for her oil painting.  An artist who usually starts with no preconceived idea or preliminary sketch, Lacey begins to develop imagery through the process of painting.  One layer of paint informs the next until an image emerges which she recognizes, develops, and tries to resolve. Known for her particular emphasis on the human figure, Lacey prefers to keep images ambiguous and exclude unnecessary details, in spite of her traditional training.  Lacey currently teaches painting and drawing for the College of Charleston.
