Grumpy Old August

10 August 2009

The Grumpy Old Jazzmen*The Swing Shift Combo performance at last Thursday’s Lakeside Concert was a success! A wonderful audience gave us a standing ovation!  (…or they were all getting up to beat the crowd to the parking lot while clapping their hands together to ward off flies…). Thanks to Dr. Les Hicken from Furman for inviting us to perform this season.*

The Grumpy Old Jazzmen’s public appearances for the remainder of the month are:

Friday, August 14th from 7-10pm at London’s Restaurant & Jazz Bar…located across from the K-Mart on Wade Hampton…fine food and fine jazz, with versatile and talented Chicago musician Jim Mangino filling in on guitar

Friday, August 21st from 6:30-9:30pm at Charlie’s Steakhouse on Coffee Street…this is the site of the very first dinner dances in Greenville…We’ll be upstairs: come see us.

Friday, August 28th from 6:30-9:30pm at Charlie’s Steakhouse

Friday, August 28th from 7-10pm at London’s Restaurant & Jazz Bar…The Shemps edition of The Grumpies will perform:  Jim Mangino (guitar), Abe Marsh (bass) and Skid Siglin (drums).  If you heard the Swing Shift Combo on Wednesday, you heard Abe and Skid.

Saturday, August 29th from 6:30-9:30pm at Charlie’s Steakhouse..The Shemps again: Jim Mangino, Abe Marsh, plus special guest Ron Hamilton on reeds and vocals.
