Don’t Be Fooled

28 December 2009

By Ashleigh Millard Sutter
Ashleigh Millard Sutter Don’t be fooled…you cannot plan everything that happens to you and your family. While many of us try, it is impossible to predict the path our lives will take. This month, let’s take a look at two policies available to you that I hope none of you ever have to use; however, if you do, they are truly a blessing to have.
Supplemental Accident Insurance Many of you have seen the duck on television advertising about how he will pay you while you are out of work. He doesn’t tell you, however, that he’s not the only one who offers Supplemental Insurance. Accidents can wreak havoc on your savings if you’re not prepared. Accident Insurance provides a cushion to help cover medical expenses and living costs when you or a family member get hurt unexpectedly. Accident insurance pays you, not the hospital or doctors. It covers you on or off the job. This policy also has a sickness rider – in the event you get sick, are out of work for more than a week, you can get paid for your time out. The sickness rider even applies to pregnancy. What woman wouldn’t want to get paid for being home after pregnancy or being put on bed rest?
Cancer Insurance No likes to think about getting cancer, but it will still affect 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women. It may not be preventable, but you can protect yourself from some of the costs. Cancer and specified disease insurance can help you manage the high expenses of treatment, preserve savings, protect your family from financial hardship, and let you concentrate on getting well. With Allstate’s Cancer Insurance, you can use the money you receive for indirect costs of having cancer. Also, once you obtain a cancer policy, you are renewable for LIFE. So, even if you develop cancer and use your policy benefits, you are still entitled to a cancer policy. You will not be cancelled. You also don’t have to pay your premiums while you are going through radiation or chemotherapy treatments.
Both policies discussed above even pay you to go to the doctor each year for a regular check-up. What insurance pays you to go the doctor? The benefits of the wellness visit could cover your co-pay or even your deductible if you have one. Don’t hesitate: if cancer is in your family or you don’t have enough in savings if an accident temporarily disabled you, call today to get more information about an Accident or Cancer policy.
