Riverbanks Hosts Rhythm and Blooms, Music and Art in the Garden

Visit Riverbanks each Thursday evening in May for Rhythm and Blooms, a celebration of music and art in the Botanical Garden.
From 6 to 9pm guests can listen to live music under the Rose Garden Pavilion and browse displays from local artists throughout the Garden. Tapas and drinks will be available for purchase on the Garden terrace.

Three’s A Herd: Giraffe (yes, another one) Born During Recent Snowstorm

The snowstorm on February 13 may have caused Riverbanks to close, but the snow did not keep the Zoo’s newest addition away. When Zoo keepers entered the giraffe barn that morning, they were greeted by a lanky little boy who had not been there the night before.

March for Meals 5K Run/Walk at Riverbanks
March 6, 2010
Join Riverbanks Zoo and Garden as we host the annual March for Meals 5K Run and Walk. The race will kick off at 7:30am and check-in begins at 6:15am. The cost of registration is $20 for adult runners, $15 for adult walkers and $10 for children 12 and younger until February 15. Those registering after February 15 will pay $25 to run and $20 to walk. On the day of the race, the registration fee increases to $30 for both runners and …

March for Meals at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden
7th Annual 5K Walk/Run Set for March 6

What: The seventh annual March for Meals 5K Run and Walk at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden will be held on Saturday, March 6.
All proceeds from the race benefit Meals on Wheels, which provides thousands of meals to homebound seniors in the Midlands each year.

Riverbanks Zoo’s Koala Knockabout Has a New Addition

On your next trip to Riverbanks make sure you stop by Koala Knockabout – you might catch a glimpse of Oliver, the Zoo’s newest resident, a joey (or baby koala).
While koalas have a teddy bear-like appearance, they are not a bear at all. Koalas are marsupials, similar to kangaroos; the females have a pouch where they carry their young during development.
